FBI investigating possible terror link in shooting of Texas Lyft driver, targeting of police station

Image
The FBI is investigating whether a Texas man accused of fatally shooting a female Lyft driver and then opening fire in a police station was inspired by foreign terrorists . Imran Ali Rasheed, 33, left a letter indicating he "may have been inspired by a foreign terrorist organization," said Matthew DeSarno , special agent in charge of the FBI’s Dallas office. "At this point, we do not believe that the suspect, Imran Ali Rasheed, was provided assistance by others or that others were involved in these incidents. However, it is our top investigative priority to fully determine the extent of his relationships and contacts," the FBI’s Dallas office tweeted Monday .  PENNSYLVANIA SHOOTING AT HS FOOTBALL GAME LEAVES CHILD DEAD, OTHERS HURT Rasheed ordered a Lyft share ride on Sunday in Garland, and then fatally shot driver Isabella Lewis. Police then found Lewis’s car at a police station in Plano where Rasheed opened fire in the lobby and was subsequently fatally sho...

Judge reverses decision, allows unvaccinated mom to see her son

Image
A Chicago judge reversed his decision that stripped an unvaccinated mother of her parental rights over her 11-year-old son.  "Judge Shapiro just issued an order vacating portions of his prior order of August 11th so Rebecca Firlit can see her son again," Rebecca Firlit’s attorney, Annette Fernholz, told FOX 32 Chicago Monday .  Firlit said she has not seen her son since Aug. 10, and that Cook County Judge James Shapiro initially revoked her parenting time with her son until she gets vaccinated. She previously recounted to the media that she has been divorced from her husband for several years, and said she doesn’t want to get the jab due to previous adverse reactions to vaccines.  ILLINOIS MOM SAYS JUDGE STRIPPED CUSTODY OF SON UNTIL SHE GETS COVID-19 VACCINE: REPORT Shapiro reversed his decision on Monday after the story gained traction in the media, which Fernholz credits with helping Firlit’s case.  "I think there’s been a lot of media outcry," Fernholz s...

US futures pare gains ahead of North American trading

Image
Equities optimism turns flat on the day US futures are backing off to the lows for the day as early gains are pared. Dow futures are now flat while S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures are switching over to negative territory ahead of North American trading. It isn't so much a major shift towards being risk-off but the more optimistic mood from earlier has certainly turned flattish and more tepid now. That being said, it is month-end and sometimes it is a bit of a mess having to sort through the flows so there is that to consider in the day ahead. Invest in yourself. See our forex education hub.
