Key Words: Vladimir Putin isn’t ready to recognize Joe Biden as the next president, says relations between Moscow and Washington are ‘already ruined’

‘We will work with anyone who has the confidence of the American people. But that confidence can only be given to a candidate whose victory has been recognized by the opposing party, or after the results are confirmed in a legitimate, legal way.’

That’s Russian President Vladimir Putin explaining to Russian state TV in an interview on Sunday why he’s not ready to acknowledge Joe Biden as the next president of the United States.

Putin, one of the few remaining global leaders not recognizing Biden as the winner of the election, was quoted by Bloomberg as basically saying he doesn’t believe it matters what he says at this point because relations between the U.S. and Moscow are “already ruined.”

Meanwhile, Trump still won’t concede and continues to push legal action to overturn the results even as some of his most loyal backers, such as former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, urge him to accept the outcome and put the country first.

Back in 2016, Putin wasted no time in congratulating Trump for winning the election. Of course, unlike Trump this year, Hillary Clinton conceded the day after the vote.
