: Capitol Police officer reportedly dies, chief resigns after siege

A Capitol Police officer has died after the siege of the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Trump mob, and the department’s chief will resign, according to reports Thursday.

CNN reported the officer’s death late Thursday, with few other details, saying only it was due to “events stemming from Wednesday’s riot.” The officer was the fifth person to die from the siege, in which one woman was shot to death by police and three others died from medical emergencies.
